Triumph sets World Speed Record at Bonneville Salt Flats

Triumph sets World Speed Record at Bonneville Salt Flats

As a proud Triumph owner, it is cool to see Triumph in the headlines for conquering the new world speed record on a motorcycle. The record was set using the Triumph Rocket III – the largest production motorcycle in the world.

Read about it here:

This makes me want to watch the movie “World’s Fastest Indian” starring Anthony Hopkins in which the previous world record was set. It is a true story of a man, Burt Munro, who never gave up on his dreams. He was a man obsessed with Indian motorcycles, always modifying the engine and frame to see just how fast he could go. In 1967, Munro decided that is was time for he and his Indian motorcycle to travel to the United States with the goal of breaking the world’s land speed record at Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats.

Another earlier documentary was made about the real Burt Monro, called “Offerings to the Gods of Speed.” I think I’ll try to catch that one, as well.
